Long time, no bloggin

It's been a while since our last blog post.  As business picked up for fall, blogging got put on the back burner.  However, we are here now, and we're happy to say that www.friendlyrooster.com is sending out its second batch of charity shoes!

Today we sent out 60 pairs in September, and today we sent out another 40 pairs to our charitable partners with Share Your Love of Shoes™!  Thanks again to our loyal customers who bought Tip Toey Joey shoes and in turn secured a donation for My Stuff Bags and Room to Grow.

You guys are awesome!

We've said it before, and we're saying it again....we love when people send in pictures of their children wearing our shoes.  It is the reason we do this.  Here is Harper, wearing her brand new Livie and Luca pink Peacock Mary Jane style shoes.  Here parents tell us that she wants to put them on every day with every outfit (and as you can imagine, they don't match everything...so that can be an issue :).

We hope you enjoy the pics as much as we do.  And if you feel so inclined, you can always buy these for your little girl at www.friendlyrooster.com ...

First Share Your Love of Shoes™ donation!

Friendly Rooster is so thrilled to announce that we are shipping our first round of donations to our two charitable partners:

Each organization will receive 30 pairs of Tip Toey Joey shoes for beginning walkers in need. These shoes are specially designed with little feet ages 6 through 18 months in mind.  They are soft and non-restrictive, allowing babies feet to develop properly and sense irregularities in the ground while still providing traction and protection (plus..they are super cute!)  Here is a sampling of the styles these children will receive.

Thank you SO much to all of our loyal customers that purchased TTJ shoes on our site and allowed us to make this happen.  You all rock!

2 more fantastic reviews!

A huge thank you to The Shopping Mama www.theshoppingmama.com and to www.5minutesformom.com for two amazing reviews.

The Shopping Mama called out many of our brands, but focused more on Native footwear and Livie and Luca.  The timing was perfect because we JUST landed new colors of Native (and Livie and Luca fall is on its way).  Check out the review here:  http://theshoppingmama.com/2012/08/friendly-rooster-stylish-shoes-for-back-to-school-discount-code-giveaway/

5 Minutes for Mom reviewed the site and was excited about quite a few styles, but their focus was on the Neon Eaters Binary shoes.  The reviewer's son looks absolutely adorable wearing them.  See how cute he is:

Thanks to both of you for your kind words.  We love you both!

Why Native Footwear?

Here at www.friendlyrooster.com, we love when we receive emails such as this:

"I was just on your site looking for the new Miller style your Facebook page said would be in soon.  We absolutely love the Natives (my son pretty much has a tan with spots on top of his feet from wearing them all summer) and we get so many compliments on them - I also have had two Moms telling me that they would love a pair for themselves! He wears them in and out of the pool and pretty much everywhere else. Completely waterproof and they stay on your feet, (unlike Crocs), plus they are much BETTER LOOKING!"

We get it.  Native shoes are totally rad.  That's why we carry them on our site. And it's why we've sold out more than once of these fantastic styles.  Besides the cool product they produce, their marketing is unreal.  Remember Red Fraggle??? She loves the Miller in red (as seen here).

Native shoes, the brand, is a Vancouver-based footwear label made with injected molded EVA, a material that’s so lightweight yet is virtually indestructible. Known for its fabulous fit, the secSo neret behind the brand is the EVA that molds to the shape of the wearer’s feet. The brand is about the ease and simplicity of classic designs.  Chuck Taylors, Keds, boat shoes...these all are known styles that we love.  And just look at this host of shoe benefits:

  • cool factor
  • water proof
  • washable
  • slip on styling for easy on/off
  • molds to your feet
  • low emission manufacturing process
  • zero waste injected molds
  • odor resistant
  • anti microbial
  • no animal bi-product (read: vegan!)
  • incredibly well priced
  • fun colors that look great with everything

New colors are hitting our site in late August through mid-September.  Keep checking it back, and as the Native Footwear brand slogan says......."Keep It Lite"

Ode to orange pops

Our favorite color right now at www.friendlyrooster.com is orange.  It looks good with almost every color this season..lavender, navy, red, pink, turquoise...you name it.  We love it so much we have shoes coming this fall in the color (Native Footwear, which is due in September).  Here are some great items we found while browsing the web....

Colorblock dress from Crewcuts

Vintage-cool from Anthropologie

We would seriously rock this Coach scarf...

Sweet orange tipping from Mini Boden

Can't remember where we saw this rad orange watch

LOVE this dress...Crewcuts again

Orange makes this neutral Anthropologie shoe more fun

Can you get much cuter than teacups on a Mini Boden jumper?

Fantastic necklace! (Modcloth)

Mini Boden's feathered friends

For obvious reasons, we at www.friendlyrooster.com have a fascination with birds (thus, the name "Friendly Rooster").  We were happy to see this season that Mini Boden, one of our favorite children's clothing retailers, also had an affinity for feathers....as evidenced by their dress and t-shirt collection this spring.  Check out how cool these are!

Thanks from PDX with love

This week we received a sensational review and "vlog" through the blog "From PDX with Love".  Sofia, the blog writer, reviewed our Tip Toey Joey shoe "Grind".

She also shot a video of her son wearing the shoes in her back yard.  We are thrilled with the result.  You can read the review and see the video: http://frompdxwithlove.com/13643/reviews/friendly-rooster-toddler-shoes-review/2012/

Tennis shoes and baby girls

We have our first learning at www.friendlyrooster.com .... baby girl tennis shoes are not a best seller.  As cute as sneakers may be, mary jane style shoes are always the number one choice.  We see little girls wearing sneakers all of the time, so we wanted to pay homage to some of our faves on today's sneaker blog...

A week of fantastic reviews

Our heads are spinning after a whirlwind week of great reviews and mentions with three separate mom-blogging sites!

1)  First up, To The Motherhood did a wonderful post on Tip Toey Joey's Bohemia shoe for boys.  We are sponsoring a coupon and a gift certificate give away for this blog in conjunction with the review.

2)  Next on deck was The 818: It's 10 degrees hotter here.  Delilah (she is the woman who writes the column's little girl), received Twirl leopard print Mary Janes for toddlers from Tip Toey Joey.  Her love for shoes in this article is apparent, so now she can add us to her list of favorite shoe stores.  We also love that the banner for the site now has a picture of Delilah's feet wearing these shoes.  Fantastic!

Click here for 818's review:  http://the818.com/2012/05/tiny-imelda-marcos/

3)  Last, but certainly not least, is Inspired By Savannah.  We were the mom spotlight on Monday and the Feature Friday review!  Savannah loved the Dolly shoes so much that she cried when she had to take them off.  You can read all about it below.  We are sponsoring a coupon code for their readers, and we're also giving away a pair of baby shoes to one lucky reader.

Overall, it was a great week for Friendly Rooster.  Thanks everyone for your love and support!
